A Taormina elopement: when a ceremony begins with listening

An elopement is not an escape from planning. It is a choice to make room for what matters most. For Jayme and Lucas, who travelled from the United States to celebrate their love in Taormina, that centre was a ceremony I created around their story, their vows and their wish to experience every moment without rushing.

Before the ceremony: getting to know the couple

My work begins long before the elopement day. Through online meetings, I get to know the couple, ask them focused questions and understand their wishes, as well as the meaning they give to words such as promise, family and future. I also send personal questionnaires, which allow each partner to share memories, values and the details that make their relationship unique at their own pace. This is where I begin writing the ceremony: not as a standard text adapted with a few names, but as a narrative with their rhythm and their voice.

The answers, our conversations and the personal vows gradually become the material for a ceremony truly tailored to the couple. An elopement is a truly romantic moment. The couple are alone, they look at each other, tell their story and exchange promises for life. Naturally, every word carries even more weight. This preparation helps me understand how much room to leave for intimacy, how to accompany the vows and which gestures make the celebration recognisable for that couple, without turning it into a formula.

Preparing together with the suppliers

For me, an intimate ceremony works well when every professional knows their timing and can work in harmony with the others. During the preparation, I stay in contact with planners, photographers, videographers, musicians, flower designers and the venue, so that the ceremony schedule, technical needs and the couple's experience are aligned.

For this celebration, the setting was Sparviero Suites, with flowers by Petali e Capricci Weddings and a private dinner by Chef Marco Dagati. Live violin music by Emilia Belfiore accompanied the exchange of vows, adding a gentle presence to the celebration.

The elopement day

The day began slowly: getting ready, a first look on the terrace and time to move through Taormina. The couple explored the streets of the town centre, Villa Comunale and the coast before returning to the venue for their sunset ceremony. This sequence was not simply a schedule: it left time for the light, travel, emotions and the discreet preparation of the setting.

Overlooking the sea, Jayme and Lucas read their personal vows and exchanged rings. My role was to hold that moment: to give the ritual its shape, guide them with a calm presence, and let the words we had prepared together find their natural place.

Personalising means making the couple feel at home

For a couple choosing Sicily from afar, feeling supported makes all the difference. My listening, ongoing communication and close collaboration with the wedding team turn many moving parts into a seamless experience. My aim is not to fill the day, but to leave the couple space to truly live it: with the people, places and words they have chosen.
