FederCelebranti Convention 2026: why a celebrant never stops learning

Scritto da Rita Ziino ·

FederCelebranti Convention 2026

Being part of a network

A secular celebrant often works alone. Writing ceremonies in the quiet of a studio, meeting couples and families in their most intimate moments. And yet, it is precisely this personal nature of our work that makes it essential to connect with others who share the same challenges and ask the same questions.

This is why belonging to FederCelebranti — Italy’s national network of celebrants — is not a footnote in my career but a deliberate choice. A professional association gives voice to a profession that is still young in Italy, one that needs shared standards, quality benchmarks and representation.

The third convention: Rome, 11 April 2026

On 11 April the third Convention of Italian Celebrants took place in Rome, at the Giama Congressi centre. A full day — morning through afternoon — devoted to the themes that are reshaping the world of ceremonies.

The morning opened with a welcome from President Liana Moca and covered pressing topics: funeral ceremonies through the lens of the German experience with Frithjof Laaser (President of BATF), an in-depth look at cremation and end-of-life practices with Marco Mazzeo of the Associazione Romana Cremazione, and a session on the new 2026 regulations and digitalisation with Lorella Capezzali, a civil registry expert.

The afternoon brought an international perspective with Alice Hall, an authorised marriage celebrant from Australia, and closed with an intense talk by Francesco “Kento” Carlo — rapper and writer — on the power of words that heal and set free.

Competence is nurtured every day

I wrote on social media right after the convention:

A full day among fellow celebrants talking about ceremonies and discovering what is new in a world that changes fast. Sharing ideas, understanding, learning. Because competence is not achieved once and for all — it grows only if you nurture it, and you nurture it only if you love it.

I truly believe this. Attending these events is not an obligation but a deeply felt need. The world is changing: new laws, new sensitivities, new digital tools. A celebrant who does not keep up risks standing still while the people who trust them are looking for someone in step with the times.

Why this convention matters to anyone choosing a celebrant

If you are looking for a celebrant for your wedding, civil union or symbolic ceremony, knowing that the professional you have chosen actively participates in their professional community is a guarantee. It means they do not improvise, that they exchange ideas with colleagues from across Italy, that they know the current regulations and invest time and energy in their own growth.

FederCelebranti exists for exactly this reason: to ensure that whoever celebrates the most important ceremonies in your life does so with competence, passion and continuous development.

Until the next convention.
